OverviewSimply put, Cricket Press is a game designed to improve your Cricket game. In an organized way, you'll focus shooting each of the Cricket numbers (20-15 & bullseye). Along the way, you'll see a statistical breakdown of how you're doing. We'll maintain a history of your stats, so you know what to focus on and see how you're improving. - Before playing, you'll need to register, which is free, painless and easy. We require registration, so that we can save your game history and statistics in our database.
- The game is straightforward. To play, you'll shoot rounds at each of the Cricket numbers (20 through 15, then bullseye) until they're closed. So, in the first round, your target will be 20, shoot all three darts at the 20. If you close it (3 marks) great! Move on to 19s, if you don't close it though, shoot the next whole round (all three darts) at 20. Make sure to complete each round focused on only one target at a time.
- At the start of the round, the scoresheet will show which number you're shooting under "Current Target". Shoot the whole round at that target.
- When you've finished the round, enter the number of total marks you hit that round in the "Marks" box and hit enter. The page will update the statistics in the scorecard.
- Once you've closed all the Cricket numbers, we'll update all the statistics and save them on our site for you to check whenever you'd like.
Navigating the gameThere are four heading tabs on this page, this one is called "Instructions". Scroll down, and you'll see three more: "Cricketpress Scoresheet", "Marks Per Round Statistics" and "Rounds to Close Statistics". To move from one tab to the other, just click the heading you'd like to see. - Cricketpress Scoresheet -- To play the game, click the "Cricketpress Scoresheet" tab, notice that the "Current Target" is 20, shoot 20s, enter the number of marks you hit in the "Marks" box, and hit enter. This will show all your stats for the current game, including marks and rounds for each cricket number, as well as marks per round (marks / round), high score and low round.
- Marks Per Round Statistics -- This is historical statistics for all the games you've played. We store this on our server and you can clear them out and start fresh whenever you'd like. This tab helps you understand how this game stacks up against games you've played in the past. The MPR column is the current game, it'll be all 0's if you haven't played yet. Average shows the average Marks per round for each target. Maximum is the worst MPR you've gotten for that target, and Minimum is the best MPR you've shot for that target since resetting the statistics. Minimum Rounds is the lowest number of rounds it's taken to close the target.
- Rounds to Close -- This shows the percentage of time it's taken to close a target in 1, 2, 3 or more rounds. So, if your first game it took you 4 rounds to close 20, 2nd and 3rd games you closed it in 2 rounds and your last game you nailed it in one round. You'll see 25% under 4 and 1, and 50% under 2.
- Control Panel -- Use the control panel to reset your scores.
I do want to give credit where it's due. I was inspired, and based this on an extrememly well done excel spreadsheet program called "Cricket Press!!!", developed by TheNoocH (jeffnooch at gmail dot com). You can download this from his web site. TheNoocH based this on suggestions in Frank Pratt's 1995 out of print book fun*dart*men*tals.
